Swab a Cheek

Increasing Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Bone Marrow Registry

CONTRIBUTE

YOUR contribution will be used to:

  • Register life saving donors
  • Educate donors so they are available when someone needs a match

If someone told you that you could be a hero, and save someone's life; would you do it?

If the answer is "yes"- Swab a Cheek, Save a Life, can provide the way for you to do just that.

By joining the bone marrow registry today - you could be a hero.

We named ourselves Swab a Cheek, Save a Life, because it is that simple to enroll in the donor registry. Until recently, a blood test was required. Now, all it takes is a simple swab of the inside of your cheek to be registered. Then someday, YOU could be called to save someone's life.

Save Devan's Life!

4-year old Devan has a rare form leukemia known as APL. He has very limited time to find a bone marrow or cord blood match so he can have a life-saving transplant. You could be Devan’s hero. Anyone could be a match, but those who are of mixed South-Asian/European ancestry have a better chance of helping Devan. Please join the registry today for Devan and the other 6,000 patients who are searching daily for their miracle match! YOU could save Devan’s life.
Join the bone marrow registry NOW. It’s as easy as swabbing your cheek in your own home and mailing it back!

Why Do We Need a Diverse Registry?

Most often, bone marrow transplant patients need a donor who is of the same ethnic or racial background. BUT, people of color are drastically underrepresented in the bone marrow registry. Tragically, most adults and children from diverse backgrounds cannot get the life-saving bone marrow transplant they need because there is no match for them in the registry. More donors from diverse backgrounds are desperately needed.
